What Unofficial DarkMode SFMC - is

Unofficial DarkMode SFMC - is a free, open-source Google Chrome browser extension built and maintained voluntarily by independent Salesforce Marketing Cloud practitioners and developers from around the world. No company owns it. No agency sponsors it. No Salesforce partner has approved or reviewed it.

The extension modifies only the visual presentation layer of Salesforce Marketing Cloud web pages as rendered inside the user's own browser — specifically, it injects CSS style rules to change colours, typography, and contrast. It does not interact with, access, read, copy, transmit, or alter any Salesforce data, configuration, or business logic.

It is an experimental tool. It is provided without warranty of any kind. It may break at any time if Salesforce updates their platform. No support contract exists. No SLA exists. No guarantee of uptime, accuracy, or fitness for any purpose is made or implied.

Open source licence

Unofficial DarkMode SFMC - is released under the Apache License, Version 2.0. The full licence text, including trademark notices, is included in the project repository.

What the Apache 2.0 licence means in plain terms:

You are free to use, copy, modify, and distribute this software — including for commercial purposes — provided you include the licence notice and attribute the original authors. You cannot claim the software as your own and cannot use the project's name to imply endorsement of your work. The software is provided with no warranty whatsoever.

The Apache 2.0 licence explicitly states in Section 6 that it does not grant any rights to use the names, trademarks, or service marks of the licensor or contributors. The Salesforce marks referenced in this project are not ours to licence.

No warranty

This extension and this website are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. This includes but is not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Specifically, no warranty is made that:

• The extension will work correctly with your version of Salesforce Marketing Cloud

• The extension will continue to work after any Salesforce platform update

• Using the extension will not cause unintended visual side effects in your account

• The extension is compatible with all Chrome versions, operating systems, or configurations

• Any defect or error will be corrected within any particular timeframe

Salesforce Marketing Cloud is a complex, frequently updated SaaS platform. The extension targets CSS class names which Salesforce can change at any time without notice. When that happens, some visual rules may stop applying silently. The project includes a diagnostic tool (health-check.js) for identifying broken rules, and community contributors fix them when found — but there is no guarantee of how quickly that happens.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the contributors, maintainers, or anyone else associated with this project be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential damages arising from:

• Your use of or inability to use the extension or this website

• Any interruption or cessation of Salesforce Marketing Cloud functionality

• Any loss of data, campaigns, content, or revenue in your Salesforce account

• Any unauthorised access to your Salesforce account or browser

• Any decision made based on information on this website

This limitation applies regardless of the theory of liability (contract, tort, negligence, or otherwise) and even if contributors have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Your responsibility: Before installing any browser extension in a professional environment, you are responsible for assessing whether it complies with your organisation's IT security policies, your employer's acceptable use policies, and the terms of service of any platform you access with it — including Salesforce's own Terms of Service.

Privacy

The extension itself collects no data. It makes no network requests. It stores only your display preferences (which toggles are on, your schedule times) locally in Chrome's built-in sync storage. Nothing is transmitted to any server.

This website may use standard web analytics to understand how people find and use the site (page views, referrers, browser type). If analytics are active, they are configured to:

• Not collect personally identifiable information

• Not use cookies for advertising or tracking purposes

• Anonymise IP addresses before storage

No data collected by this website is sold, shared, or used for any commercial purpose. If you have a question about data, use the contact below.

Responsible use

This extension is intended for individual users who want to improve their personal working environment within Salesforce Marketing Cloud. It is not intended to:

• Automate, scrape, or extract any data from Salesforce

• Circumvent any Salesforce access control, security feature, or permission model

• Modify any Salesforce business logic, data, or configuration

• Violate any Salesforce Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy

• Be deployed across an organisation without appropriate IT review

If your organisation's security team or Salesforce account team has concerns about browser extensions in your environment, consult them before installing.
